Crow
and Persimmons
This was another highly damaged piece that I decided to try to repair and remount. Besides the rips and discoloration, the persimmon fruits were very faded, so I re-colored them with the kind of mineral (gansai) paints used in Nihonga. As can be seen in the close-up of the crow above, the background is not pristine, and shows its age.
For the mounting, I used an interior framing of gray lightweight silk crepe, with salvaged brown mounting silk on the outside. The accent strips are vintage meisen silk.
