Baby Buddhas

The art is a sumi-e ink painting done by Mari’e Okada when she was three. The four charming figures reminded her mother, Melissa Rinne, of little buddhas.

The mounting is blue Duppioni silk with accents of silk crepe from a child’s kimono. The artwork is accented by a narrow line of red silk. The unusual ceramic finials were salvaged from an early 20th century scroll picturing a float from the Gion Festival.
