Mother Mouse

The artwork is a an old print, found in a pile of damaged prints in Kyoto. The edges were badly oxidized, and I wanted to try restoring it.

The interior edging is dark purple silk, salvaged, and the ichimonji header and footer strips are also salvaged from another scroll.

The mounting is green momigami paper—paper with a coating that has then been crumpled to make the textured pattern. Momigami was once very popular as a relatively informal style of mounting. It must be treated with dosa, a fixative, before being used.
